My favorite character is Jane. I would like to get to know her because she seems like she can have a good time, but also does care about things.  She stands out to me because she’s caring and very protective of her sisters. In the book, Jane’s whole family goes to London, for a spirit meeting with a whole bunch of other people who talk to the dead. While they’re there, in the middle of the night, Jane realizes that her younger sister isn’t in her bed, so she goes outside to look for her. Jane saw her sister in the freezing cold ocean, sleep walking. Jane ran into the ocean and dragged her out. If I was Jane, I would go back to the house to get my mother to go and get her, but Jane didn’t run away, and let her sister freeze, and went to go get her. When she did that, she showed people that she really cares about her sisters.  Another example is when Jane went onto the titanic to tell Mimi and Blythe to get off.  Everyone kept telling Jane that the titanic was going to sink, and she risked her life to go tell her other sisters that they should get off. Jane knew that she wasn’t going to have a lot of time, but she still did it anyway and now she’s on the boat, fully knowing that tons of physics think it’s going to sink.
